When fate conspires against you and gives you three loves to choose from, what do you do? What if you make the wrong choice?

Shara is a Healer, raised and trained from childhood until her unique gift manifests itself. When she gains the rank Journeyman she is hired to serve as the court healer for the barbaric kingdom of Glendor.

Untrained for war, she is thrust unmercifully into its bloody arms when the kingdom is invaded. Ordered by her king to the front lines to tend the wounded, she is forced to flee when their camp is attacked. Happening upon a wounded soldier in the forest, every mile back to the capital is a struggle, and breaking the Healer’s code, she falls in love with her charge.

If Shara thought that to be the least of her troubles, the appearance of a fierce warrior captain who appoints himself her protector, teaches her differently. Trouble comes in threes at the appearance of a former love and fellow healer. Faced with decisions of the heart and the sudden manifestation of her gift, there is little room for anything else to go wrong. Or at least that’s what Shara thought.

Have you discovered the land of Ever?

Hi Everyone!

I blog about a lot of different things, but I realized I haven’t on my own writing too much lately. I thought I’d see if you’ve all checked out my young adult short story series, Tales of Ever.

This is a special project close to my heart. The series is geared toward getting people reading and so is written with a lot of action and is very fast paced to keep the reader hooked.

Though it is young adult and written for teens ages 12 and up, it has a number of adult loyal fans too!

So what’s it about you ask? The six part series features Misha, a teenage girl who is shy and not very social or popular. She learns she is a firestarter, like her mother and her father who mysteriously disappeared when she was six. Her life goes from sucky to horrible and through various circumstances she becomes banished to the mystical land of Ever. The stories follow her as she meets new friends and searches for her father while learning to use her powers to survive the magical, and deadly, prison she can never escape.

Stories 1-4 are now available in all eBook formats for 0.99 each. 5 & 6 will be coming soon!
These links will take you to my author page with book list on each site.

OmniLit or Smashwords for multiple download formats.
Amazon and Amazon UK and Amazon DE for Kindle
Barnes &Noble for Nook and iBooks (iTunes)

You can see my Tales of Ever page on my website for more information on the series and each story too! CLICK HERE

GIVEAWAY CLOSED! Congrats to our winner Darlene!

Want to try the series out? Comment here and a winner will be chosen to receive a free eBook of Tales of Ever #1 Banished! Open to everyone! One entry per person. Please leave your email or twitter id so I can contact you if you win!

Decadent Publishing YA Blog Stomp-Julie Campbell

Hi Everyone! I’m super excited to have Julie Campbell back again.. this time with an interview of her one of her characters!!

~Contest ended! Congrats to winner acm05!~

Welcome to Decadent Publishing’s Blog Stomp Young Adult book tour. This is also a stop on my blog tour for the release of my first novel, Senior Year Bites.  Jen thanks so much for letting me post here today. Stick around at the end for the contest details.

(Fun little detail. Right before writing this blog I got a shirt from Carol, my boyfriend’s step-mom, that says “Only vampires can love you forever.” What perfect timing.)

Interview with Meg from Senior Year Bites:

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! First of all, can you tell us a little about yourself?

Well, I’m a senior at Banks high school. I like math and I secretly dream of being a hero like my dad. Oh yeah, and minor detail… I’m a vampire.

Once you got used to the idea, what became your favorite part of being a vampire? Your least favorite?

Hmm, I’m not sure I’ll ever really be used to the idea, but I have to say the super strength is really fun. The least favorite part? When I’m thinking about it, drinking blood. Of course when the vampire part of me takes over, drinking blood is my favorite thing. How gross is that?

How hard was it to keep from others your change?

Hahahaha, I failed. So really hard. I only managed to keep it from my two best friends, Steph and Ann, for a short time. I didn’t manage to keep it from the guys for very long either. Alexander already knew – arrogant bastard.

For those who learned about you becoming a vampire, who do you think took it the best? The worst?

Steph took it the best. She’s all about this super hero idea. Ann took it the worst, and I’m still not sure why.

Is there anything you regret?

Yeah, a lot of things. Not getting to say goodbye to my dad properly before he died is a big one. That happened when I was much younger though, so it’s a distant ache. I regret spending the night in a graveyard.
If you could change the past- what would you change?

Truth or dare… just take the bloody Truth! Who cares if you have a crush on a boy? Admitting it is better than getting turned into a vampire.

Do you have any advice for those newly turned?

Don’t let yourself get hungry. You don’t have to kill people to feed, but if you let yourself get too hungry, you lose control. Who knows what you’d do then?

What are your plans for the future?

Um, future? I’m not sure I have one. Lurking in the dark maybe? I’m still too shocked to have plans, but I know Steph does. She’s working on something and I’m sure she’ll drag me along for the ride.

Everyone who comments today will be entered to win a Decadent title of their choice. You can go to http://www.decadentpublishing.com/ to look around. Please leave us a way to contact you so we can let you know you won. The winner will be announced tomorrow. Also, all commenters will be entered into the grand prize drawing. You can check out the details here: http://decadentpublishing.blogspot.com/p/contests_08.html.

Author Bio:

Julie writes fantasy novels. When she’s not out riding her horse, she can usually be found sitting in front of her computer with a cat on her lap and her dog at her side.

www.writerjacampbell.com.

Senior Year Bites Blurb:

Senior year is supposed to be fun: boys, dances and graduation.

It’s significantly harder to enjoy it when you’re dead.

Truth or Dare is supposed to be fun too. It’s not even close to dangerous, so playing
at Steph’s house didn’t seem like a bad idea. My dare? Spend the rest of the night in
the graveyard next to her house. It was only a couple of hours until false dawn, my
proscribed return time, so no big deal right? Right.

I survived the attack, but it took me a few days to figure out what was going on. I mean
vampires might stalk pop culture, but they’re just myths. Yeah. Not so much.

School is a lot more difficult when you’re a nocturnal creature of the night. I was
managing, but I couldn’t keep it hidden from my friends for long. After I managed to
accidentally save one of our cheerleaders from her drunk and ill-intentioned boyfriend.
Steph decided that we should be cool, like superheroes, and fight crime.

Only I’m a vampire, not a hero, and we live in a sleepy New England town, so crime’s a
little harder to come by. At least it is until a serial killer moves into the area. He’s got
the authorities stumped, but then again, the cops don’t have a teenage, blood-sucking,
non-hero on their team.

Interview with Author Patti Roberts-and Contest!

I have the super fantastic Patti Roberts on my blog today! Learn all about her and her book and don’t forget to check out the contest below to win a free copy of her book!

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Name Patti Roberts
Living in Cairns Queensland Australia.
I wrote Paradox – The Angels Are Here to mend a broken heart.  It worked!
On any given day you can usually find me sitting at my desk in front of my laptop pounding away at the keys writing another chapter in the Paradox series. That would be a run of the mill kinda day for me!
A packet of Cruskits and a water bottle, that is now at room temperature, is sitting on the desk beside me. There is also a mass of USB cables, notepads, bills to be paid, bills to be filed a bunch of pens and a printer that is forever running out of ink. Sound familiar.
On most days I have to remind myself to eat and drink. I Should be thinner!!!
I am sure my housemates are very thankful that I still manage (usually at some ungodly hour) to bathe, brush my hair and clean my teeth.
I don’t know about you. But I am usually mortified when visitors just pop around, only to find me sitting at my desk and still in my PJ’s. I don’t even want to broach the hair situation! Did I remember to put last nights dishes away???
PS: If you are thinking about popping a round for a coffee, that might be nice. But please give me a quick call first so I can brush my hair and smear a bit of colour across my lips.

When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
I started writing in 2009 and finished my first book in the Paradox series (A novella) The Angels
Are here in 2010.  I am currently working on the 2nd book in the series – Progeny Of innocence – which will be completed in November of this year.  And book 3 in the series will be completed in 2012.  Bound By Blood.

How did you choose the genre you write in?  I think it chose me.

Do you ever experience writer’s block? Do you work with an outline, or just write?

Basically I have the idea of the story in my head but it kind of just writes itself.  Certain characters demand that it goes a certain way so I just go along for the ride.  I have never had writers block.  The story is an ongoing dialog in my head.  Very busy up there – night and day!
How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your genre?

So far I have marketed the book via twitter, facebook and goodreads.  Many hours!!!

Have you written a book you love that you have not been able to get published? Paradox is my heart book.

Can you tell us about your upcoming book?

It is the next book in the Paradox series.  And the best way that I could sum that up is “Grace is not a little girl anymore!”

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?  Both.  But far more fantasy than real life.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?  Oh I would say chapter 8 – Kali & Bonga and Chapter 17 – Hells Bells Toll For Thee.  I loved writing these chapters because they allowed me, on behalf of the characters, to step back into real life events in history.  Even when I read fiction I like to know that there are certain aspects of the story that I can learn something factual.

How did you come up with the title?  I love the word Paradox and the meaning.  It makes you think.

What project are you working on now? Will you have a new book coming out soon?  The second book in the series.  Paradox – Progeny Of Innocence due out this November.

Are there certain characters you would like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with?  There are certain characters, due to reader demands, that I devote more time to.  Which is great because I love the Abaddon character too.  I just didn’t expect that he would be SO popular with readers.

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?  I see criticism as an opportunity to do better.  As long as it is constructive I do not have a problem reading/hearing it.  Not yet anyway.  Most of my reviews have been fantastic.  I still have to pinch myself.  I just can’t believe that so many people have so many great things to say about the book that I wrote!

Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?  I think if writers block sets in, then you are may very well be on the wrong path at the wrong time.  Start a fresh.

Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans?  Thank you so much for buying reading and loving my book.  You all totally blow me away.  I will be forever grateful.  You have all made the long hours so worth while.

FUN QUESTIONS!
1)     Chocolate or Vanilla?  Vanilla!
2)     The light side or the dark side?  The grey in the middle…
3)     If you were a superhero (or villain!) what would your power be? Read minds  Would you wear a cape?  Only on dark rainy nights J
4)     Do you have a deep dark secret?  How about a shallow grey one?  Not really.  I’m pretty much an open book.
5)     What does your main character think about you? Are you best buds or have you tortured them so much you’d run if you actually ever met?  We would definitely hug.
6)     What sort of coffee would you order? Simple coffee, complicated soy-non-fat-extra-espresso-half-caff-nightmare?  cappuccino
7)     Is there any food you refuse to eat? Olives, brains, livers, things like that – yuck!
8)     Drink of choice? Vodka, baileys, red wine.  Depends on the temperature.
9)     If you could live off of chocolate would you? What kind? Cadbury chocolate with nuts.
10) What pets have graced your life? I had a rabbit when I was a kid called Bugsy.  I loved that rabbit and when he died it broke my heart and I cried for days.  Currently I have a cat that is definitely a tad psycho.
11) If you could visit any world ever written about, where would you go?  I would jump on board that ship from close encounters of the third kind.

Author bio:  Born in Brisbane Australia.  Grew up in Darwin in the Northern Territory Australia and now live in Cairns Queensland Australia.  I have a son, Luke (named after Luke Skywalker)  He was born in the 80’s.

Interview with Author Traci Hohenstein and Contest!

Today I’m thrilled to have author Traci Hohenstein stop by for an interview! Please enjoy learning more about this fantastic author!

Comment for a chance to win a free ebook of Burn Out! (Open to everyone. One post per person. Contest ends May 8th) ~Contest Winner Tracey Alley! Congrats!!~

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m Traci Hohenstein and I live in NW Florida with my husband and three kids. We live in a small resort town and we love to go to the beach and hang out. I also find it a very peaceful and relaxing place to write.

What do you do when you are not writing? Do you have a day job as well?

I have sold real estate in Florida for over 15 years. I still have an active license but I’m concentrating on writing full time now.

When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book? I have been a part time freelance writer for over twenty years. I’ve written numerous magazine and newspaper articles. I started working on Burn Out – my first novel – during NANO last year. I spent January through March editing and polishing the manuscript. I published directly through Kindle, Pubit, Smashwords, and Createspace. Burn Out has received rave reviews since the release date.

How did you choose the genre you write in? I love to read suspense and thrillers so it was only natural that I write in that genre.

Where do you get your ideas? Do you ever experience writer’s block? Do you work with an outline, or just write? I was watching the story of missing teenager Natalie Holloway who disappeared in Aruba during a spring break trip. I was fascinated and heartbroken at the same time. How could a girl in the prime of her life just vanish without a trace? That was the seed of the idea of doing a series about a woman who locates missing persons.
On writer’s block – If I get stuck on a scene I just move on to the next one. On outlines – I generally have a beginning and ending in mind when I start. I like the freedom of just writing and seeing where the characters take me.

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult? My favourite book is Gone With The Wind and I have read it many times throughout the years. My go-to writing book is On Writing by Stephen King. It has a prize place on my nightstand and I read a little bit every day to stay motivated.

Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published? Finding the right people to help put the book together. I hired a cover artist, a formatter, and an editor. Three things that I think are a must to put out a professional product if you are going the self published route.

If you had to go back and do it all over, is there any aspect of your novel or getting it published that you would change? Not a thing.

How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your genre? I am really active on the online social media scene. I work the forums, interacting with other authors and readers on sites such as Facebook, Goodreads, Kindleboards, and many others.

Can you tell us about your upcoming book? Asylum Harbor is the second book in the Rachel Scott series (see Q15)

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination? Burn Out is about a missing firefighter. While it is a work of fiction, I relied heavily on my husband who is a firefighter to help me with the firefighting techniques in the book.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why? I love to write the first chapter of any novel. I love to find that element of excitement to propel the story forward. It’s my favourite part to write!

How did you come up with the title? I wanted something to reflect firefighting so my husband and I sat down and came up with a list of names. Burn Out made the cut at the last minute.

What project are you working on now? Will you have a new book coming out soon? Are there certain characters you would like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with? Asylum Harbor is the next book in the Rachel Scott series that will be published. Rachel is called down to the Bahamas to locate a missing teenager who vanished during a cruise. The teenager is the daughter of the Florida governor – so this is Rachel’s first high profile case. Of course I added a lot of twists and turns to the story. Asylum Harbor will be released this summer.

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment? My toughest criticism comes from the people I love. LOL. My dad told me he hated the way I ended Burn Out. He is so hard to please. The best compliment came from my dad as well. Even though he hated the ending, he loved the story.

Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers? It’s simple. Write every day.

Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans? I would say thank you for buying my book. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! And that you stick with me for as long as I write.
FUN QUESTIONS!

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate

The light side or the dark side? A little of both

If you were a superhero (or villain!) what would your power be? Would you wear a cape? Yes, I would have a purple cape that made me invisible when I wore it.

Do you have deep dark secret? How about a shallow grey one? Don’t all writers have deep dark secrets?

What sort of Starbuck’s coffee would you order? Simple coffee, complicated soy-non-fat-extra-espresso-half-caff-nightmare? I love caramel macchiato.

Is there any food you refuse to eat? Drink of choice? I would try anything once. My favourite food is lobster and steak. I’m a margarita girl.

If you could live off of chocolate would you? What kind? I love dark chocolate.

What pets have graced your life? Which was your least favorite? What do you think the coolest pet to have would be? I have had many pets – dogs, cats, hamsters, fish…

If you could visit any world ever written about, where would you go? Back in time to the days of Gone With The Wind. I would love to be Scarlett O’Hara.
